Julie and Julia

Okay, I am sorry for not posting about movies yet! I just haven't watched any recently. I will tell you about a good movie I watched a couple weeks back, though. It is called Julie and Julia.
Rated PG-13 for brief language and some sensuality, it is a movie that some people do not watch. Though there were a couple words, it wasn't too bad. Our filter blocked what words were spoken. There was a scene or two that suggested things, which we just didn't look at, but it wasn't too bad. I was actually surprised, because Amy Adams is in it. She has been playing in a lot of movies lately that just aren't worth watching, and in this movie she did very well. Meryl Streep (lady from The Devil Wears Prada) was also in it, playing Julia Child. She did such an amazing job at playing the over 6-foot-tall lady with an almost obnoxious voice, who happened to be a little over --enthusiastic about the French language and everything there. That isn't bad, but it was interesting to watch. haha =)
Watching that movie made me start wanting to cook as those French cooks did, creating beautiful, delicious masterpieces all the time. Even though that probably will not really ever happen for me unless I go to a French Culinary School (which I am actually thinking about doing), I can still dream. =) It is very nice to get inspired by great people who changed the way people see or do things (for the better, of course). Over all, great movie. I recommend watching it if you can! I would give it a 4 1/2 star rating. =)

About this blog

Hello! You may be wondering what this blog is all about. Why is it called "K-rate"? Let me explain. My name is Kirstin, and I am a teenager in a fallen world. Saved by Christ at an early age, and learning everyday about how amazing, gracious, loving, and forgiving my Savior is, I strive to bring glory to Him every day, through every activity, including movie-watching. One may not think that that is something you need to be concerned about. It is, after all, just a movie, and they 'don't effect us'. Not true, actually. Movies effect us. Plain fact. They determine what we wear, say, how we act in front of others or by ourselves, what we do, sometimes what we eat, and more. They do more than we can imagine, and that is why it is a good idea to guard our eyes and ears from evil, and watch things that God would be pleased with. Though most of the movies we watch have 'scenes' in it, as we call them, we forward them. It does not matter how long it is. My family skips those scenes, and we use a filter that mutes bad language and puts better words up in their place. Both keep us from thinking about those things, and that is God-glorifying.
Now to my reason for creating this blog. It is actually kinda funny. Every time I watch a movie, I have different thoughts about it. I rate it in my mind, try to remember who happened to be in that movie that I've seen in another one, whether it was cute or girlie or action-packed or slow. Whether I liked it or not, and if I would want to watch it again. And, as with every movie, I forget what the title was, and all these details. So, this is a diary-type of blog that allows me to write down all these things about the movies I watch. Because I am a Christian, and I believe this may help many other Christians, I am going to give the Christian view, and whether it is safe for the family (young ones) or not. I hope you enjoy and can use the information I will put on this blog in many ways. =)
Can't wait to get started, but until then, goodbye!
